Before submitting an application, take a final pass through the version the employer will receive. Small mistakes are easier to correct now than after the vacancy closes.
Keep the job description available while checking. Make sure you are applying for the intended role and working arrangement.
Check the match and the document
Confirm the job title, employer, location eligibility, and any stated deadline. Read the instructions for required documents and file formats.
Open the actual resume file you intend to upload. Check contact details, dates, headings, spelling, and links. Remove drafting comments or references to another employer.
If you tailored the resume, confirm that the edits changed emphasis without introducing an inaccurate title, skill, or result. Make sure every important claim is something you can explain in an interview.
Review the uploaded information
Inspect fields filled automatically from the resume. Check that dates belong to the right roles and that names or qualifications were not cut off.
Read any error messages before proceeding. If the form cannot extract all information, follow the available manual correction process rather than assuming an upload success message means every field is correct.
Check required answers and verify that optional fields are not accidentally filled with private information you did not intend to share.
Check supporting material
Open portfolio links without relying on your own logged-in access. Make sure the employer can view the intended work and that you are permitted to share it.
If a cover letter or written answer is requested, check that it names the correct vacancy and adds relevant information. Avoid including confidential employer or customer details in examples.
Do not enter passwords, payment details, or unnecessary identity information into an unverified application route. If the process looks suspicious, confirm the vacancy through the employer's official career site or published contact.
Confirm receipt and keep your copy
After submission, look for the confirmation page or application reference. Save the final resume version, vacancy details, and any receipt in your own job-search records.
If the connection fails and the result is unclear, check for a receipt or application status before repeatedly submitting. Use the employer's support route when you cannot confirm what happened.
Record any promised next step and contact date. This gives you a clear basis for follow-up and helps you prepare from the same evidence the hiring team received.
