How to Create a Standout Profile

A profile is read in seconds. Recruiters scan for evidence that you have solved the problem they are hiring for, and most profiles bury that evidence under adjectives. The fix is structural, not cosmetic.

Lead with outcomes, not duties

"Responsible for the payments service" tells a reader nothing. "Cut payment failures from 4% to 0.6% over two quarters" tells them what you would do for them. Every role should carry at least one line a stranger can verify.

Make the first two lines count

Most readers never scroll. Your headline and opening sentence should answer three questions: what you do, who you do it for, and what changes because you did it.

Show the work

Link to something real - a repository, a case study, a published piece. A single concrete artefact outweighs a paragraph of self-description.

Keep it current

An unmaintained profile reads as an inactive candidate. Revisit it whenever you finish something worth mentioning, not once a year when you start looking.
